Welcome to the CARIS Islington Website

CARIS Islington is a registered charity which runs a Bereavement Counselling Service for adults, children and young people with a connection to Islington.

CARIS Emergency Appeal
CARIS Islington has been facing financial difficulties. It is with a very heavy heart that the Board of Trustees has taken the extremely difficult decision to wind CARIS operations down. We are launching an emergency appeal to raise money to pay our creditors, including CARIS Islington employees. We are seeking to raise £35,000 to pay our creditors and if we raise £60,000 we will have enough funds to hire a fundraiser as we try to keep the service running.

The volunteer counsellors and senior counsellors will continue to support our existing clients as best they can during this difficult time. We are working with other organisations to try and help provide some continuity of service for clients that need it and will continue to provide updates as best we can.

We are very sorry that this hugely important and valued service is having to wind down and we appreciate the community of Islington’s ongoing cooperation with the staff and volunteer counsellors at this difficult time.

Our Vision

Caris Islington
"Our vision is of a community service open to all in Islington affected by bereavement"
We provide bereavement counselling for adults, children and young people.

You can find more information about our service on this website. You can also go to our download section for our latest Annual Report and other information about CARIS Islington.

Further information is on the Volunteering page.

Although CARIS has its roots in local Christian churches, we cannot stress enough that our counselling is not faith based. People are welcome as clients, employees and volunteers from all backgrounds and all faiths or none. Part of our training has always been to ensure that people of faith set aside their beliefs during counselling sessions so that they can keep their attention on their clients with open hearts and minds.
