Welcome to the CARIS Islington Website

Cold weather night shelter for homeless people in Islington
BEREAVEMENT SERVICE - OFFICE UPDATE
From the end of March we will be re-opening the office on a full-time basis for staff, volunteers and clients who are ready to resume. We have been working with our staff to create a safe and welcoming office environment and are now ready to continue with our face-to-face services. In preparation for this, the office has been professionally cleaned and we are looking at the necessary protocols we need to put in place. A few of our staff members have already started coming into the office on a rotational basis and we look forward to welcoming everyone for in-person sessions. We will continue to offer phone and video sessions for those who prefer the online format.
Phone calls to 020 7281 5200 and voicemails are forwarded to our administrator by email so there may be a delay in getting back to you. If you would like to refer to our service please check the Bereavement Counselling page on this website. If you would like to contact us it is best to send an email or use the contact form on this website rather than phoning. If you want to speak to a specific person please send a text or email. For general information please fill out our contact form. We do not operate a helpline service.

Our Vision
Caris Islington
"Our vision is of a community service open to all in Islington affected by bereavement or homelessness, offering counselling and cold weather shelters"
(From the Caris Islington Mission Statement)
We work with bereaved people and homeless in Islington, North London. For homeless people we provide a cold weather night shelter. For bereaved people we provide bereavement counselling for adults, children and young people.
You can find more information about our projects on this website. You can also go to our download section for our latest Annual Report and other information about CARIS Islington.
Volunteers
If you are a counsellor or counsellor in training and would like to volunteer with us we offer training courses once a year for both our adult and children & young people service. Further information is on the Volunteering page. If you would like to be added to our waiting list for either service please email admin@carisislington.org including which service you would like to work with.
Although CARIS has its roots in local Christian churches, we cannot stress enough that our counselling is not faith based. People are welcome as clients, employees and volunteers from all backgrounds and all faiths or none. Part of our training has always been to ensure that people of faith set aside their beliefs during counselling sessions so that they can keep their attention on their clients with open hearts and minds.
